Old Wine In New Bottles is a chamber winds classic, written in 1958. The composer Gordon Jacob was not only a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, England but he was also the author of several published books on the subject of composition and arranging. In 1953 he arranged The National Anthem and Fanfare for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and in 1959 was featured in a BBC TV documentary, Monitor, by director Ken Russell.
Of Jacob’s over seven hundred compositions, Old Wine In New Bottles is certainly one of his most delightful works. I’m proud of my contribution (principle trumpet) to this project and I believe you will enjoy this live recording:
