Trumpet Fingering Chart for the D Blues Scale (Concert C Blues)

The D Blues Scale

Get started jamming out on the blues in (written) D today! Remember that if you are playing a b-flat trumpet, the written pitch is whole step above the sounded pitch. This means that a written D actually sounds as a concert C. So you can use the D blues scale to solo over a concert C blues chords on the b-flat trumpet. For this reason, the b-flat trumpet is called a transposing instrument.
