Assimilating new literature, finding fresh practice materials, and extending one’s technical abilities are all a part of an expedition that will lead to musical successes. It is my sincerest desire that this suggested list will be a place for you to start building your own excellent trumpet music library.
Build A Music Library
The creation of a trumpet music library is a critical aspect in our musical development as trumpet players. The selections below are all a part of my personal trumpet music library and I highly recommend having a plan to study each one as a part of your long term trumpet practice routine.
Buy Sheet Music
If you plan on performing or recording works for profit, then you must find a licensed version of the works that you choose and make a purchase that pays those who spent time researching, arranging, editing, engraving, and printing the modern sheet music notation that is used by the collaborators on your project.
For research, practice, and personal development there are resources like IMSLP (imslp.org) that provide notation from works in the public domain but most modern trumpet methods and Twentieth Century literature are still published under a well earned copyright.
Use Websites
Make use of websites that offer transcriptions, free sheet music, scores, video tutorials, and performance recordings. I use YouTube and Google to find information about almost anything that I want to play on the trumpet.
